At Incredible Kids, we believe every child deserves the chance to play, laugh, and make friends – and every family deserves a community where they feel understood.
Founded in 2012 by parents who suddenly lost access to a local disability play centre, Incredible Kids began as a kitchen-table idea and grew into a lifeline for thousands of families across Bristol and the South West. Today, we welcome over 6,000 visitors each year to our inclusive play sessions, where children and young people with disabilities can simply be themselves – and their parents and siblings can find support, friendship, and relief from isolation.
Now, we are at a turning point. Our long-term vision is to secure a permanent home for Incredible Kids – a place designed for the children, young people, and families we serve. To make this vision a reality, we need a new wave of trustees to help guide us there.
Being a trustee with Incredible Kids is more than a boardroom role. It’s about using your skills and time (around 6–8 hours a month) to shape a small, fast-moving charity that has a big impact.
You’ll help us:
Develop and deliver our business plan as we work towards buying and transforming a permanent space.
Make key decisions on finance, HR, fundraising, and strategy that will directly benefit the children and families we support.
Champion inclusion for disabled children and their families in your networks, opening doors and sharing opportunities.
As one of our current trustees puts it:
“I joined because I wanted to make a difference. But what surprised me was how much I gained – new skills, new friendships, and the joy of seeing families flourish because of the decisions we make.”
We welcome first-time trustees and seasoned board members alike. What matters most is that you bring energy, ideas, and a willingness to get involved.
We are particularly keen to hear from people with skills in:
Fundraising – to help us grow our income through grants, corporate partnerships, and community giving.
Finance – to guide us through budgeting, investment decisions, and sustainable planning.
Human Resources – to support our small but growing team.
Business development and strategic planning – to shape the next stage of our growth.
Property, legal, or project management – as we prepare for the purchase and transformation of a permanent home.
Marketing, PR, or digital skills – to help us share our story and reach new supporters.
Our only essential requirement is that trustees share our Christian ethos and can uphold the values that drive our work.
You won’t be dropped into the deep end. We offer a trustee induction programme, plenty of support, and opportunities to learn about the charity sector. Trustees meet formally four times a year in Bristol and get involved in informal projects between meetings.
Alongside the formal duties, trustees often describe the role as “hugely rewarding”.
Here’s why:
You’ll see the impact of your decisions first-hand – like a parent telling us their child “finally has a friend” or that they “feel less lonely for the first time in years.”
You’ll help families at breaking point find joy, relief, and a sense of community.
You’ll shape the future of an award-winning, volunteer-led charity as it takes its next big step.
If you’re ready to help us write the next chapter of Incredible Kids, we’d love to hear from you.

Many of the families we support are facing isolation, financial strain, and shrinking support from mainstream services. At Incredible Kids, we don’t ask for a diagnosis or referral – we simply open the door to families in need of support. That’s why we’re the first place many families turn when they’ve nowhere else to go.
Your expertise – whether in fundraising, finance, HR, property, strategy, or simply seeing the bigger picture – could mean more children smiling, more parents breathing easier, and more families finding the connection they desperately need.
